Project Summary

This project aims to empower disadvantaged youth in Duhok Governorate, Iraq, by enhancing access to quality learning and skill development opportunities. It involves the establishment of three Innovation Labs in Sumel, Shiekhan, and Duhok Youth and Sports Centers. These Labs will act as hubs for education, innovation, and entrepreneurship, providing dynamic spaces for young people to learn and grow.

Using a comprehensive UNICEF curriculum, the project will deliver tailored training programs in innovation, life skills, digital skills, and entrepreneurship. Both online and offline training will ensure inclusivity and accessibility, supported by the Learning Passport platform for peer-to-peer education and skill-building.

To further promote youth empowerment, the initiative will offer seed funding, mentorship programs, and employment services. Youth will have opportunities to pitch their innovative ideas in competitions, with selected projects receiving funding and support for implementation. The project will also establish Youth Advisory Groups in each location, enabling young people to participate in decision-making processes and community development.

Sustainability will be ensured by building the capacity of government-supported community center staff and creating a peer-to-peer education network. By fostering entrepreneurship, social cohesion, and active participation in economic and social life, the project will empower youth as agents of change in their communities.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Attend project team meetings and take notes on available project outlines/ resource materials,
  2. Provide administrative and logistical support for projects, initiatives, and programs including travels within an NGO environment;
  3. Perform the implementation of activities under the project duties.
  4. Assist in planning, coordination, mobilization of implementing partners;
  5. Assist the project coordinator and team members by maintaining calendars, receiving and composing communications as correspondence, and replying to inquiries;
  6. Write  reports and correspondence and process documents including contracts, , invoices, etc. with regard to the project/program materials;
  7. Work with the project team to maintain data management and filing for projects/program/events reports/etc.;
  8. provide support to one or more staff members in regard to project and programmatic efforts;
  9. Archiving the documents making sure they are kept safe and easily retrieved;
  10. Updating his/her performance on a weekly basis to the Project Coordinator and project officer;
  11. Assisting the project officer and the Project Coordinator in providing any support related to the project;

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  1. Excellent communication and report skills in Kurdish, Arabic and English.
  2. Exceptional verbal, written and presentation skills;
  3. Ability to work independently and as a part of a team;
  4. Knowledge in file management, transcription and other administrative procedures;
  5. Ability to maintain the highest degree of discretion and confidentiality
  6. Ability to work on various computer software applications.

Reporting & Monitoring

  1. Perform Project Management functions;
  2. Safeguard all confidential files;
  3. Report any issues that may affect the project or organizational image;
  4. Prepare project reports to the direct supervisor on monthly basis.

Working conditions

  1. Frequent field trips to different regions.
